Sorenson BioScience Offers Industry's First Ergonomic Pipette Tip In Innovative Earth-Friendly Packaging
Patent-pending OneTouch Tips Incorporate Two Dissimilar Resins for Accurate and Precise Pipetting While Relieving Discomfort Associated with Pipette Use; Pipette Tips are Available in the Industry's First Recyclable Paperboard Rack
Salt Lake City - Sorenson BioScience, a leading manufacturer of scientific liquid handling products, announced the immediate availability of the OneTouch pipette tip and e.dek tip rack, an ergonomic, economic and environmental solution for life science laboratories. The first of its kind, the tip and rack system will add to the company's portfolio of innovative liquid handling plastics sold to academic, pharmaceutical and clinical labs around the world.
Unlike standard pipette tips, the OneTouch tips are the first to feature a patent-pending two-resin manufacturing process. The top of the tip is made using a flexible resin that produces an optimal seal while requiring minimal force to eject the tip. The pliable top easily fits a wide range of pipettors, including multi-channel pipettors and those with worn shafts. The second resin is a non-reactive polypropylene traditionally used in pipette tips.
"The ergonomic design of the OneTouch tips makes pipetting more comfortable and reduces wrist and forearm strain, while maintaining the accuracy and consistency that Sorenson BioScience tips are known for in the market," said West Price, Sorenson BioScience president. "With the OneTouch Tip, Sorenson BioScience continues to aggressively set the standard in pipette design and manufacturing."
In conjunction with the OneTouch tip, Sorenson BioScience also developed the e.dek pipette tip rack. Made from recyclable paperboard, the rack adds to the soft, ergonomic feel of the tips and reduces the plastic waste that is common in many laboratories. The paperboard racks can easily flatten to be thrown away with a lab's recyclable paperboard waste.
The OneTouch tips expand on Sorenson BioScience's reputation of innovation by offering a universal fit for a variety of pipettors as well as unique color coded sizing. The 200 µl tip (yellow) is currently available. The 20µl (red) and 1,000 µl (blue) tips are tentatively scheduled to ship in Q3 of 2008. The tips are available in both the traditional plastic racks and the new e.dek recyclable racks.
