Evaluating Contamination Control For Open-Vessel Cultivation In The Multitron Shaker With HEPA Filtration

Source: INFORS HT
INFORS HT - Multitron

Contamination is a primary concern in cell cultivation, especially when using open vessels. Traditional incubator shakers often require disruptive manual decontamination, interrupting workflows. The Multitron 4 incubator shaker addresses this by incorporating an internal HEPA filtration system. This system continuously filters air, maintaining a Class 10 (ISO 4) environment within minutes of door closure, effectively minimizing airborne particle risks. This application note presents a study evaluating its performance in supporting contamination-free open-vessel cultivation of E. coli and CHO cells. Results from air exposure, surface monitoring, and cultivation comparisons demonstrate clean, uninterrupted cell growth.
