Electrophoresis Documentation and Analysis System 120, Limited Edition
D. Bianca
Eastman Kodak Company, a world leader in Digital Imaging technology, expands its product line for scientific imaging with the release of the KODAK Electrophoresis Documentation and Analysis System 120, Limited Edition (EDAS 120 LE). This economical gel documentation system enables the generation of publication quality gel images for notebooks, publication and electronic communication for under $1500. System components include the KODAK DC120 digital camera, the DC120 gel accessory kit and the KODAK 1D Image Analysis Software v.3.0, Limited Edition.
EDAS 120 LE is designed specifically for scientists interested in using a low cost, high performance, flexible digital system to eliminate the waste and cost associated with instant film based laboratory documentation systems. High-resolution gel images are captured to Macintosh or Windows based computers in minutes using 1D LE software's intuitive camera acquire interface. Once captured, images can be optimized for printing or publication by adjusting brightness/contrast, rotating, and cropping. Images can be rapidly exported to other software applications, saved as 1D projects or TIFF files and printed on any laser, inkjet or dye sublimation printer. An optional software upgrade expands EDAS 120 LE's capabilities to include full quantitative analysis capabilities for molecular weight, mass and region of interest analysis of gel images.
In addition to gel documentation, the EDAS 120 LE's 24-bit color, autofocus, DC120 camera may be used for point and shoot photography in the lab or in the field, and the optional microscopy accessory kit adapts it for imaging of optical microscopy specimens.
EDAS 120 LE is among a selection of new products offered by Eastman Kodak Company, Molecular Imaging Systems via a new e-commerce program. Available starting October 1, 1999, EDAS LE can be purchased from Life Technologies, Kodak's selling partner for the EDAS 120 product line.
