Automated DNA Sequencing

DNA-Scan is now bundled with Gene Profiler software!

DNAscan is a Windows program used for the automated base calling of DNA sequencing gels. Automatic lane finding and band detection algorithms permit the analysis of an entire sequencing gel autorad in minutes. Artificial intelligence algorithms are used to analyze base position and to call the base sequence. Missing bases and ambiguous calls are flagged for the user to inspect and edit, if necessary.
DNAscan is simple to operate, and completes the analysis of a gel image in minutes. Labs that already use a digital imaging system can simply add DNAscan software by loading it onto an existing Windows workstation. DNAscan is capable of analyzing any 8-bit, grayscale, non-compressed TIFF file. For labs not yet using a digital imager, Scanalytics offers the high resolution BenchTop scanner for digitizing gels and autorads. The sample (autorad) is simply placed on the scanner bed, scanned in under a minute, and the resulting TIFF file opened in DNAscan.
