KX Series digital imaging cameras offer a variety of solutions for bright field and fluorescence imaging
KX Series digital imaging cameras offer a variety of solutions for bright field and fluorescence imaging, from the megapixel interline-transfer Sony CCD in the KX85 to a full line of Kodak CCDs. Acquisition of an RGB series is automated by software and is done using external and optional filtering (liquid crystal filters or filter wheels).

  • The KX85 offers low cost, electronic shuttering and excellent blue response. The small pixels sample at the Nyquist limits even at lower magnifications.

  • The higher resolution, larger pixel KX2E offers five times the dynamic range and twice the field of view of the KX85. The 9 micron pixels are best suited for magnifications of 20X and above.

  • The KX14, which uses the same CCD as Diagnostic Instruments' SPOT, is a compromise between the KX85 and KX2.
All KX cameras digitize to 14-bits to properly oversample the inherent dynamic range of the CCDs. A variety of software is available for controlling the cameras, including MicroCCD, PMIS, Image-Pro Plus from Media Cybernetics, KestrelSpec for Windows and DLLs with Software Development Kits for those who need to use the cameras in custom/proprietary environments. The complete system includes the camera head, PC interface card and a 10-ft. cable.
