CRC Press LLC is recognized as a leader in scientific, medical, environmental science, engineering, business and technical publishing.

CRC Press LLC publishes books, journals, newsletters and databases. Customers have access to publications through individual purchases, bookstores, libraries and on-line access at http://www.crcpress.com/.

The origins of CRC began at the turn of the century in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1913, CRC published the first edition of the world-famous Handbook of Chemistry and Physics. The Handbook soon became the definitive reference for students of chemistry and physics throughout the western world. With the exception of a few wartime years, a new edition has been published every year since 1913. The 81st Edition, published in 2000, contains over 2,500 pages of the most useful and up-to-date information in the physical sciences.

In 1986, CRC was a $10 million publishing operation, and was purchased by the Times Mirror Company. CRC subsequently expanded its product line to include a broad range of text/reference titles for scientific, medical and technical professionals.

In 1990, CRC acquired Lewis Publishers, expanding its professional reference line to include the environmental sciences. Today, CRC Press LLC is the leading publisher of books on environmental issues.

In July of 1992, CRC acquired Washington D.C.-based Food Chemical News, a 50-80 page weekly newsletter that is the most widely read news source in the food industry. The acquisition strengthened CRC's position in the food science and food regulation marketplace.

In January 1997, CRC Press was purchased by Information Ventures LLC, in partnership with Warburg Pincus, and changed its name to CRC Press LLC. Within the first six months, CRC Press LLC acquired St. Lucie Press and Auerbach Publishing, expanding its presence in the business management arena. In August 1998, CRC Press LLC became a publicly held company under the ownership of Information Holdings, Inc. (IHI). During this same time, CRC acquired the prestigious Chapman and Hall statistics and mathematics list from Kluwer, as well as the Pitman Mathematics Program from Addison-Wesley Longman. We will continue to grow through external acquisitions.
