Cogenics Adopts NuGEN Ovation Systems Target Preparation For Analysis Using Affymetrix GeneChip Arrays
Cogenics to Offer NuGEN's Amplification Services for FFPE, Whole Blood, and a Broad Range of Small and Degraded Biological Samples
San Carlos, CA - NuGEN Technologies, Inc., a privately held company that develops and commercializes nucleic acid amplification and labeling systems, announced today that the Cogenics division of Clinical Data, Inc., a global provider of genomics services, has adopted NuGEN's popular Ovation Systems for RNA amplification and target preparation using Affymetrix GeneChip 3' expression arrays.
The Ovation Systems family of RNA amplification and labeling products empower life scientists to conduct sensitive, robust, gene expression profiling and signature discovery using sample types as diverse as whole blood, fresh tissue biopsies, laser-captured micro-dissected cells (LCM), sorted cells, and FFPE (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded) tissue.
Cogenics will offer target preparation services using three Ovation Systems, enabling scientists to unlock biological secrets that lie within recent biological specimens, as well as the millions of samples collected and banked through years of clinical research. They include:
- Ovation Whole Blood Solution
- WT-Ovation Pico System
- WT-Ovation FFPE System
"With nearly two decades of service experience, Cogenics has become expert at providing accurate and reliable sample analysis," noted Sue Pandey, PhD, vice president of commercial operations at NuGEN Technologies, Inc. "In adopting NuGEN's Ovation Systems for target preparation with Affymetrix GeneChip arrays, Cogenics demonstrates its commitment to identifying, validating, and bringing its customers the most advanced analysis technologies."
"Further," Dr. Pandey observed, "researchers are always looking for simple, sensitive, and highly reproducible amplification and labeling solutions. Cogenics global presence will make NuGEN's Ovation technology available to thousands of life scientists around the world."
"NuGEN's Ovation Systems are a great match for our services," said Clive Higgins, general manager of Cogenics. "A large number of our customers are investigating challenging clinical samples using the Affymetrix GeneChip platform. With NuGEN's excellent amplification technology, we can help them detect extremely low-abundance transcripts in severely limited or compromised samples. Our solution can salvage countless samples and years of valuable research in which they've invested."
With NuGEN's Ovation system, just picograms of total RNA from precious RNA samples can yield micrograms of amplified cDNA that can be fragmented and labeled for same-day hybridization to Affymetrix GeneChip arrays for global gene expression analysis.
