CTA subunit bears the ADP-ribosyl-transferase activity of the toxin which deregulates the Gs protein causing activation of adenylate cyclase. CTB binds to GM1 ganlioside receptors on mammalian cell surfaces. It is used extensively in neurological research because it is bound and retrogradely transported in neurons. CTB may be localized in cell preparations using goat anti-choleragenoid, (product #703. CTB acts as an adjuvant. Recombinant CTB is free of A subunit.
