Cell Freeze® Cryogenic Storage Containers

Charter Medical Cell Freeze

Charter Medical’s Cell Freeze® cryogenic storage containers are designed for storage, preservation, and transfer of hematopoietic cells (HPC) in liquid nitrogen to -196ºC. The Cell Freeze® Liquid Nitrogen Freezing Container is provided sterile (fluid path) by gamma irradiation and intended for single use. Do not reuse. Reuse causes contamination of the interior fluid path.

Typical Application

  • Rated for storage in liquid nitrogen to -196°C

Benefits

  • Individually packaged in Tyvek® pouch
  • Two membrane access ports
  • Industry-standard label pocket design offers ease of use and product traceability
  • Compatible with commercially available tube welding and freezing cassette systems
  • Single-layer polyolefin film provides a breathable, non-oxygen barrier; clarity when filled with liquid; and low-temperature properties

Physical Integrity

The Cell Freeze bio-container was evaluated for the ability to withstand temperature variations experienced during routine storage of HPC products. Product qualification passed physical integrity tests, including an initial pressure test, leak test, microbial challenge, and dye immersion tests.

Cell Quality

Cell quality was assessed using MNC and CD34+ cell types suspended in 10% dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Results met the acceptance requirement for MNC and CD34+ cell recovery of ≥ 70% relative to cell counts of the sample prior to cryopreservation. The average MNC and CD34+ cell recoveries were 81% and 84% respectively.
