Maintaining a stable bioreactor environment requires fast, reliable measurements of the parameters that affect cell viability and culture performance. An automated bioanalyte analyzer measures mammalian and insect cell culture media using only 65 μL of sample and delivers results in 35 seconds. Sensor detection principles include potentiometry for pH and electrolytes, amperometry for glucose and lactate, and an optical method for pO₂. Two analyzer units are evaluated using external quality control solutions at three levels, with coefficients of variation reported for each parameter. Additional testing assesses the linearity of glucose and lactate standards and tracks media from GFP-positive CHO cells over a 10-day culture period.
