BioWhittaker Molecular Applications, located in Rockland Maine has a long history of supplying high performance products for electrophoretic separations. In the 1970's this company was known as Marine Colloids, Inc. FMC Corporation purchased Marine Colloids in 1977 and FMC BioProducts was born. In 1999 Cambrex Corporation purchased FMC BioProducts and our name was changed to BioWhittaker Molecular Applications (BMA).

Today, as part of Cambrex, we continue with our long tradition of product innovation and service. While our name has changed, our products, our people and most importantly our commitment to high quality products and services remains the same.

We take pride in supplying state-of-the-art products to life science researchers. BMA manufactures a wide range of products including: precast agarose and acrylamide gels for DNA, RNA, and protein electrophoresis, specialty agaroses for PCR, DNA and protein electrophoresis, isoelectric focusing, cell culture, and DNA identity testing as well as products for manual and automated DNA sequencing and mutation detection.

Emphasis on developing and manufacturing high-quality products and a close partnership between products and customers has helped BMA maintain our leadership role in the worldwide supply of electrophoretic matrices, a position attained through the combination of a proud history and a constant focus on the future.
