A Photo Diary Showcasing Vendors And Events From The Conference Held At The San Francisco Hilton, November 6-9, 2006

From November 6-9, 2006 1,200 persons from around the world, representing companies such as Genentech, Amgen, Centocor, Bayer, Lonza Biologics, Johnson and Johnson, Merck, Medimmune, and Wyeth, gathered in San Francisco CA to deliver, hear, and see presentations and posters covering topics ranging from Biopharmaceutical production, scale up, cell culture, upstream processing to recovery and purification. The corresponding concurrent exhibition provided opportunities for meetings with over 80 vendors supporting the BioPharm and BioTech industry including Executive Sponsor SAFC Biosciences, and Corporate Sponsors GE Healthcare, BioRad, Irvine Scientific and Sartorius.


IBC Life Sciences Marketing Director, Ellen Cabral mentioned to BioResearchOnline Associate Publisher Sam McKissick that attendance met expectations and that a sense of enthusiasm prevails in the industry. Plans are already underway for the 2007 conference in Boston, MA. BioProcess International Magazine Associate Publisher Stephanie Shaffer commented that the conference provided optimal networking time for many scientists and researchers in the field.

Posters served as a point of conversation and meeting between formal sessions of the conference. Vendors, Universities, and Biotech companies displayed emerging technology.






The exhibition floor presented over 80 vendors from around the world covering topics from CGMP to disposables.



There was more activity in the Bioreactor Market. Sartorius presented their new bioreactor. At the Sartorius booth: front: Millie Ullah, Product Manager, Nathalie Fraud, Applications Specialist, Paul Priebe, Head of Product Management, Michael McAndrew, Product Manager.




Custom cell manufacturers supported the event with posters and presentations. Invitrogen was the sponsor of one of the evening receptions. BD Diagnostics was a sponsor of one of the luncheons held in the expo hall permitting people to lunch and learn. Top to bottom: Linh Hoang, Business Area Manager for Invitrogen's GIBCO products, BD Diagnostics Dr. James Brooks of BD Diagnostics presented on the topic, "Rapid Four-Fold Increase In Antibody Production Through Utilization Of AMDS DOEBased Media Optimization And Hydrolysate." He was accompanied at the exhibit by Teresa Smith, Linda Kosterman, Worldwide Marketing Manager, and Chuck Velnosky, Market Development Manager. Pat Ferns, VP Sales, Irvine Scientific was on hand for the announcement of the "IS CHO FEED-CD" to the Irvine Scientific Industrial Cell Culture Product Line.
