Automated Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocyte Expansion On A GMP-Compliant Cell Manufacturing Platform

Tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) have emerged as a promising approach for cancer immunotherapy because of their ability to recognize diverse tumor targets and adapt to the complexity of the tumor microenvironment. Expanding these cells at scale, however, remains a significant manufacturing challenge. A standardized, automated workflow can help address variability while supporting the production of high-quality, functional TIL products across sites and tumor types.
Data from ovarian cancer, melanoma, and large-cell lung cancer samples demonstrate consistent TIL expansion over 14 days, generating highly viable cell populations with substantial fold expansion from low starting cell numbers. Functional assessments further showed neoantigen reactivity and tumor-specific activity, while phenotypic analysis indicated memory T cell characteristics with low expression of exhaustion markers.
