The apoTACS kit is based on incorporation of BrdUTP at the 3'-OH ends of DNA fragments formed during apoptosis
N/ApoTACS kit is based on incorporation of BrdUTP at the 3'-OH ends of DNA fragments formed during apoptosis. The detection system utilizes a specific anti-BrdU antibody conjugated to biotin, and streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase complex. The combination of antibody specificity with the signal enhancing properties of biotin:streptavidin results in cellular labeling and a high signal to noise ratio.

DNA end labeling is performed using terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase (TdT) to incorporate bromodeoxyuridine triphosphate (BrdUTP). The incorporated BrdU is detected using an anti-BrdU antibody conjugated to biotin, which, in turn, is detected using a streptavidin-horseradish peroxidase conjugate and choice either diaminobenzidine (DAB) or TACS Blue Label detection reagents. The kit features the TACS reagents for labeling apoptic cells within tissue or cell samples. It also features labeling buffer technology.
