Molecular Devices Corporationst integration of Zymark Corp.'s Allegro automation technology with <%=company%> Analyst HTS Assay Detection System has taken place at Pharmacia & Upjohn's (P&U) HTS facility in Kalamazoo, MI. The complete system provides P&U with the capability to both reduce assay costs and run over 100,000 assays per day.

The Allegro system consists of inter-linked modular workstations in unique assembly-line architecture. Analyst, an automated, multi-mode assay detection instrument that connects to robotics systems, is capable of performing four major types of non-radioactive detection assays currently in use in High Throughput Screening (HTS).

P&U will be receiving two Allegro systems and three Analysts, two for Allegro, and one for assay development. One Allegro system will incorporate two Analyst systems, and will be the first using the higher-density 384-well format. "The detection flexibility of the Analyst System is an ideal match with Allegro's built-in reconfigurability, and the 384-well format will significantly reduce Pharmacia & Upjohn's cost per assay," said Kevin Hrusovsky, Zymark's president and CEO.
