Agilent introduces 1100 Series LC/MSD Trap SL, LC/MSD Trap VL
Unsurpassed sensitivity and performance
The Agilent 1100 Series LC/MSD Trap SL is a high-performance system that offers biopharmaceutical researchers an unsurpassed combination of multi-stage MS sensitivity, scan speed and resolution. Its sensitivity of 5 pg reserpine in full scan MS/MS mode represents a five-fold increase over its predecessor. The Trap SL's fast scanning capability over extended mass ranges ensures the maximum number of scans over narrow peaks without unacceptable reductions in resolution. And the Trap SL's exceptional resolution allows it to preferentially select doubly charged peptide ions for fragmentation, providing optimal MS/MS spectra while maximizing the number of unique peptides from which MS/MS data is collected.
Capillary LCs, well plate samplers and available LC/MS interfaces all optimized for maximum performance at low flow rates ensure that LC/MSD Trap SL systems yield excellent results for applications like proteomics where sample volumes are often exceedingly small.
Innovative software tools
The LC/MSD Trap SL's advantages are not limited to superior hardware. Innovative software tools produce answers and ensure productivity. Up to five stages of automated, data-dependent MSn analysis provide power for qualitative analyses and save time since all data is acquired in a single run. An extensive selection of parameters, including preferred-mass lists, static inclusion and exclusion lists, and time-based dynamic exclusion controls, support further optimization of automated, data-dependent MS/MS and MSn experiments.
Available Mascot protein database search software from Matrix Science Ltd. incorporates new Mascot Daemon functionality to quickly and automatically process multiple peptide mixtures and generate search reports. The statistically based Mowse scoring algorithm makes it easy to assign absolute significance to database search results and to make meaningful comparisons of results from different searches or samples.
A "Find Compounds" function automatically locates and extracts averaged mass spectra for all detected components in an analysis—even for multiple stages of MS. Peak integration results are also included and results can be printed, saved and used for further processing.
Affordable MS/MS
Based on the same rugged reliable hardware platform, the LC/MSD Trap VL offers the excellent sensitivity of the current LC/MSD Trap at significantly lower cost. It makes the power of MS/MS analysis available to a wider range of liquid chromatographers and mass spectrometrists.
U.S. pricing and availability
The LC/MSD SL is expected to be available beginning in August with prices starting at $175,000, including data system (computer, printer and software) but excluding a liquid chromatograph. The LC/MSD Trap VL is expected to be available in Q4 with prices starting at $140,000.
