A Serum Replacement Supplement To Promote The Growth And Performance Of Primary T Cells
By Nanami Kadota, Ericka Castillo, Brad Taylor, Ph.D., and Asma Ayari, Ph.D., Nucleus Biologics
This study comparing the use of Physiologix and human serum as supplements for T cell growth in cell therapy development, shows how Physiologix resulted in similar T cell viability, proliferation, and population doubling as human serum. When used to supplement cell culture media, Physiologix led to a statistically significant improvement in transduction efficiency of 2%. As a xeno-free media supplement, Physiologix reduces variability and offers a regulatory-friendly alternative to serum-containing growth supplements. This is significant as regulatory authorities are increasingly focusing on risk reduction for cell and gene therapy (CGT) products, thereby enhancing the requirements and controls for raw materials used in the production of these advanced therapeutics.
