3-Prime Expands To Offer Custom Oligo Synthesis Columns

ASTON, PA - 3-Prime, LLC, a global supplier of DNA and RNA synthesis products for life sciences research, has expanded its production facilities for manufacturing custom oligonucleotide synthesis columns.

3-Prime made a significant investment in their column-filling facility in order to better meet the needs of researchers using novel, high-throughput and special-purpose synthesis instruments and chemistry. The expanded facility houses instrumentation - originally designed for pharmaceutical applications - that enables 3-Prime to load columns with extreme precision, up to plus or minus one percent. 3-Prime can now provide customized column and well plate configurations as well as standard synthesis columns that are compatible with older model synthesizers.

"Our work with key customers in the areas of oligo reagents, custom oligo synthesis and oligo-based medical diagnostics drove this expansion," said Marc Rothstein, president of 3-Prime, LLC. "We have manufactured many nonstandard combinations of column formats, filter materials and solid supports to meet their unique needs. Offering those capabilities to the entire research community was the logical next step."

3-Prime's expanded facility is suitable for GMP production, with organic synthesis work areas, controlled porosity glass processing areas and a state-of-the-art quality control laboratory. All products developed by 3-Prime are functionally tested, validated and tuned to the needs of the synthesis via a technology partnership with Integrated DNA Technologies, Inc.
