IMP Shipments: Too Big, Too Costly, Too Bad

A client in the UK was initiating a new clinical trial, and shipping forty-two pallets of the IMP to Marken’s pharmaceutical service depot in the testing region created several challenges. The number, cost, and gross weight of using validated shipper boxes and pallets would make the shipment costs enormous and exceed the study budget. In addition, the temperature of the IMP had to be kept between 15° and 25°C at all times. Finally, the expected ambient temperatures in the country of debarkation were expected to be less than 15°C, but over 25°C in the country of embarkation.
