Flow Sciences' Glove Boxes Contain To Sub-Nano Levels

Flow Science

Flow Sciences, a leading provider of containment systems for laboratory, pilot plant, and manufacturing facilities has recently proven through third-party acceptance testing that their gloveboxes can facilitate an interior concentration of less than 1 ng/m3.

The enclosures are designed to contain antibody drug conjugate (ADC) powder during the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals using highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients. The level of containment for the Cytotoxic Drug Development Glovebox is .12 ng/m3, or 120 picograms per cubic meter (pg/m3). An acceptance testing result in this order of magnitude marks an impressive new chapter in the industry of containment enclosures.

At this point in time, it is difficult to predict what opportunities this innovation will bring to the market. As the size of powdered particles continue to decrease, Flow Sciences now provides containment solutions to future proof your facilities for the anticipated, upcoming needs for efficient and effective containment at the Sub-Nano level.

As it currently stands, control banding is a method used in the interim to account for the uncertainty that exists regarding engineered nanomaterials exposure. End users of Flow Sciences products can now seize the opportunity to expand their control bands into the picogram range.

Flow Sciences understands that standardized, validated, and specific methods for measuring personnel exposure to engineered nanomaterials (ex. breathing-zone measurements) are not currently available.* Therefore, Flow Sciences devotes their efforts to developing engineering controls to help make the collection of formative data more feasible.
