The Scorpion Plasmid Miniprep System is specifically designed to produce high yields of highly purified plasmid DNA for fluorescent DNA sequencing with the ABI 373/377 DNA Sequencers. Sequencing reads are routinely 420-450 bases on the ABI 373 and 620-650 on the ABI Prism 377. Plasmid purified using the Scorpion Kits are also suitable for a wide array of other demanding molecular biology applications. Scorpion consistently outperforms the current miniprep leader in yield, purity and sequencing read length. The figure to the right shows pUC-19 plasmid DNA purified from DH10B cells, and ran on a 1% agarose gel. Lane A shows pUC-19 purified using a common commercially available plasmid purification kit. Lane B shows pUC-19 purified from the same culture, but using the Scorpion Plasmid Miniprep Kit.
