Recombinant Rat Interferon Alpha was titrated with the use of cytopathic effect inhibition. In this antiviral assay for interferon about 1 unit/ml of interferon is the quantity necessary to produce a cytopathic effect of 50%. The product concentration is 1 x 105 units/ml after reconstitution with 1 ml sterile distilled water. Purity is greater than 95%. The buffer is 50mM Tris-HCl; 20mM NaCl, pH 7 with 200 ug/ml rat serum albumin; and 125mM trehalose after reconstitution.
