Textco, Inc.e sequence alignment tool in Gene Inspector 1.5 can align multiple protein or nucleic acid sequences based on properties defined in alignment tables. Standard tables, such as PAM and BLOSUM tables can be used, in addition to user designed tables. This makes it possible to align sequences based on physical properties of amino acids like charge, side chain bulk, or hydrophobicity. Once aligned, Textco, Inc.e sequences can be shown in a multitude of ways. Users can show alignments by highlighting, shading, boxing, backlighting, inverting, or hiding those residues that match or do not match the consensus sequences. In addition, a scoring histogram can be shown to indicate the extent of matching with the consensus at each position along the alignment.
