Ensuring Product Integrity Across Three Temperature Ranges

Source: Envirotainer

Since 2007, the LFB group has been committed to the Brazilian state-owned company HEMOBRAS within a technology transfer scheme aiming to construct a plasma fractionation unit in Brazil.

LFB needed to transport products of varying temperature ranges, specifically +2°C to +8°C, +2°C to +25°C and +15°C to +25°C, to Recife in Brazil. These containers would be split over three flights, one flight per day, and containers of all three temperature ranges would be transported on each flight.

The challenge was to make sure that the right dry ice amount was used for the shipment. On top of all the usual considerations when making dry ice calculations, the dry ice amount would need to be adjusted to account for:

  1. The different flight departure dates
  2. The different temperature ranges
