Review the results of a study where Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC) techniques were used with POROS Benzyl Ultra resin for the removal of aggregates in the manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Aggregates can affect the biological activity of the final therapeutic product, requiring their efficient removal. The process for aggregate removal is complex, with the selectivity of HIC affected by various factors such as salt type, buffer pH, and temperature. This study found that the use of POROS Benzyl Ultra resin in flow-through mode could lead to a time reduction of 78% and cost savings of over 50%, offering a more efficient and cost-effective process for mAb production.
