July 2000, Fishers, IN -- Bangs Laboratories conducts a study to unveil optimal conditions for producing streptavidin-coated microspheres with maximum binding capacity and minimal non-specific binding. The resulting products from this research are ProActive" streptavidin-coated microspheres. These microspheres are primarily used in immunological, molecular biology, and cell separation and visualization applications. The methodology of this study was based on optimization of covalent coupling parameters. To accurately determine binding capacity, a series of assays with unique benefits have been developed. Comparative experiments were also performed with different raw materials used for development of the final product. The benefits of this new research in-turn guarantee superior performance of the streptavidin-coated beads in binding stability, reactivity and specificity.
